The Minnesota Twins placed shortstop Carlos Correa and right-handed starter Chris Paddack on the 10-day injured list, the team announced Tuesday. Surgery is on the table for Paddack, sources told The Athletic. Correa's time on the list is retroactive to May 6.
Paddack, whom Minnesota acquired in a trade with the Padres on Opening Day, left Sunday's game in the third inning with elbow inflammation. He had a UCL sprain late last season and underwent Tommy John surgery in 2016.
In five starts (22 1/3 innings) this season, Paddack has a 4.03 ERA with 20 strikeouts and two walks. The Twins are 18-11 this season, leading the American League Central by three games.
Correa was thought to be day to day after he underwent testing that showed no fracture of his right middle finger. But he did experience soreness and inflammation after being hit by pitches in the hand area twice during the Twins' May 5 loss to the Baltimore Orioles. Correa is slashing .255/.320/.372 with two home runs this season.
