Phoenix Suns coach Monty Williams has won the 2021-22 NBA Coach of the Year award, sources told The Athletic on Monday. Williams led the franchise to an NBA-best 64-18 record this season.

Williams, 50, joined the Suns in 2019. It is his second head-coaching position in the NBA after he led the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans from 2010-15. He has a 322-299 regular-season record as a head coach.

The Suns are currently tied at two games apiece with the Dallas Mavericks in their second-round playoff series.
