Son Heung-min is insistent he would rather help Tottenham get into the top four than win the Premier League Golden Boot.
The South Korean forward is one goal behind Mohamed Salah in the race for the individual honour — with 21 goals to the Egyptian's 22. His Spurs side are also a point behind Arsenal as they push for a place in the top four.
Son scored as Spurs beat Arsenal 3-0 on Thursday night, but was substituted off with 18 minutes to play. He was clearly disappointed with the decision.
However, when he was asked about being a goal closer to Salah after the game, he said: “It’s not important.
“It would be nice but for us it is important for us to finish in the top four. (Against Arsenal) performance-wise it was fantastic and I am very proud for the lads and well deserved.”
And when asked whether he would be happy not to score again if it meant Tottenham finish in the top four, he said: “Yeah. 100 per cent.”
And when asked about individual honours more generally, he added: “Obviously it’s a good thing that you are racing, but I have said a few times that it is important to finish in the top four than anything else.”
