Chicago Sky veteran Candace Parker became the first WNBA player to record three career triple-doubles in the team's win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday. Parker put up 10 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in 26 minutes.
Her second career triple-double came in May and her first in July 2017. The 36-year-old Parker, now a seven-time All-Star, is also the first player to record multiple triple-doubles in one season.
Parker's feat marks the 14th triple-double in league history. More than half of WNBA triple-doubles occurred in the last six seasons and five happened in the last two seasons alone. Sabrina Ionescu, the “triple-double queen” of college basketball, has two in her first two WNBA seasons. Sheryl Swoopes and Courtney Vandersloot are the only other players with two triple-doubles.
