Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney watched their Wrexham side lose 1-0 to Bromley in the FA Trophy final on Sunday.
Reynolds, star of Deadpool in the Marvel films, and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia actor McElhenney were both in attendance at Wembley, alongside David Beckham and Will Ferrell.
The FA Trophy would have been the club’s first silverware under their new ownership, with the competition open to clubs from National League level down.
But Bromley’s Michael Cheek scored the only goal of the game, forcing the ball home from six yards out in the 64th minute.
Wrexham striker Jake Hyde then had a late equaliser ruled out.
Reynolds and McElhenney sent good luck messages to the side ahead of kick-off through TikTok, who sponsor Wrexham’s shirts. Cameras are also following the club for a fly-on-the-wall documentary.
“You boys have given me one of the craziest years of my entire life,” Reynolds said.
McElhenney added: “Thank you for an incredible season, we are so proud of you.”
The club are entering a vital week as they aim to secure promotion to the Football League.
They finished second in the National League, behind Stockport County, and now face a play-off semi-final against either Halifax Town or Chesterfield.
