Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has said that Paul Pogba will return after the upcoming international break and has said the France international “showed what an extraordinary player he could be” during his first training session since returning from injury.

Pogba, 28, has not played for Manchester United since he sustained a thigh injury while on international duty with France in November.

That means he has not featured for Rangnick since the German replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer — but the World Cup winner has been tipped to make a big impact for his side when he makes his long-awaited return.

“Paul had his first day of training with the whole group and he showed what an extraordinary player he could be,” Rangnick said ahead of the club’s match against Brentford on Wednesday.

“He won't be available for the two games this week but after the international break against Middlesbrough and Burnley he could be.”

Rangnick added that Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford were both due to train today but that it was too early to say for definite whether they would be involved at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

“Cristiano and Marcus were training yesterday so I suppose they will be training today,” he added.

“But in the press conference before Villa I was convinced Cristiano would be ready and Marcus, so we have to wait. I think they both could be available.”
