Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper has a small tear in his UCL, according to manager Joe Girardi. Harper won't be able to throw for four weeks, and the Phillies hope he'll start a throwing program after that. He can still enter the lineup as a designated hitter.
Harper, 29, injured his elbow on April 11 against the New York Mets when he made a throw to home plate. Through 119 at bats in 2022, Harper is slashing .269/.326/.847 with six home runs and 19 RBIs.
The Phillies are 14-17 in 2022, fourth in the NL East. They open a four-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday night at 10:10 p.m. ET.
