New England is the latest team in the NFL to release throwback uniforms and helmets since the league scrapped the one-helmet rule in June 2021.
The Patriots most recently wore these throwbacks occasionally over the course of 18 years from 1994 to 2012. New England notched a 9-3 record in the 12 games they sported the red uniforms during this run.
Hall of Famer Andre Tippett played 11 seasons with the Patriots from 1982 to 1993 before transitioning to his current role as director of community relations. Tippett's No. 56 is arguably one of the most notable jerseys from New England's original run with the red uniforms.
"There's nothing like the old throwback jerseys," Tippett told Patriots.com. "I'd love to see more people representing old-school football."Patriots to bring back red throwback uniforms in 2022 season - The Athletic View Story
