Thompson had a "little cleanout" of his knee and should be back in a couple of weeks, Rhule added.
The 27-year-old is one of the Panthers' top defenders. He played in 14 games last season and ranked second on the team with 104 total tackles. Thompson's two interceptions were tied for the team lead.
Rhule also said Monday he expects second-year defensive tackle Daviyon Nixon to be ready to go for training camp. Nixon’s rookie year ended after seven games following knee surgery.
