The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Colorado Avalanche 6-2 in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final at Amalie Arena on Monday.

Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog opened the scoring before Anthony Cirelli and Ondrej Palat responded with back-to-back goals to put the Lightning up 2-1 after 20 minutes of play.

Tampa Bay forward Nick Paul fell and hobbled off the ice in pain after he was shoved by Avalanche defenseman Josh Manson late in the first period. He returned for the second and scored 1:26 into the middle frame to extend the Lightning lead. Landeskog scored his second of the night to cut the Colorado deficit, but Tampa scored three in a row from captain Steven Stamkos, Pat Maroon and Corey Perry.

Lightning star Nikita Kucherov went to the dressing room after a cross-check by Devon Toews late in the third period.

Colorado holds a 2-1 series lead over the defending two-time Stanley Cup champion Lightning. Game 4 is set for Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET in Tampa Bay.
