Josh Naylor’s late-game heroics on Monday night helped the Cleveland Guardians overcome an 8-2 deficit heading into the ninth inning against the White Sox to ultimately win 12-9 in the 11th.
After a solo home run by Andres Gimenez and Amed Rosario later scoring on an error, Naylor launched a 421-foot grand slam to send the game into extra innings. Naylor, two innings later, would hit a three-run homer to secure the near-impossible comeback victory.
Naylor is the first player in MLB history to hit two 3+ run homers in the ninth inning or later in the same game. He finished 3-for-5 with 8 RBI.
The White Sox had a 99.8 percent win probability heading into the ninth inning, according to ESPN.
