If you want to upload a video to Instagram, in whatever form that may be, it’s first important to know about the maximum time limits so you can plan your content in advance. Here’s everything you need to know about how long a video can be on Instagram.

• Instagram video — If you’re posting a video to your feed, it can be between 3 seconds and 10 minutes in length, however, only a 60-second preview will appear in your followers’ feed, where they’ll be able to choose to watch the video in full.
• Instagram story — Stories you post can be up to 15 seconds, but if you decide to upload a longer video, it will be cut into multiple 15-second chunks.
• Reels — Instagram reels can be anywhere from 15 to 60 seconds, however, in May 2022 they started rolling out a longer 90-second time limit for some users.
• Instagram Live — While the limit for Instagram Live used to be an hour, they have since extended that limit to four hours.
