Manchester City will match the greatness of Sir Alex Ferguson’s storied Manchester United side if they beat Liverpool to the Premier League title on Sunday...
Ferguson’s United won 13 Premier League titles, establishing themselves as one of the most dominant sides in the history of English football.
Ahead of City’s game against Villa, Guardiola said: “Of course it would be great (to win four in five seasons).
“When I arrive and people here say the Premier League is really difficult, the toughest one, everyone wins different ones. Just Sir Alex Ferguson with United could do four in five years.
“When this happens, you realise the magnitude of this United (team) in this period and how they were able to do it many times. We're close to being a part of that and we have to try to take it.”
Despite City’s game against Villa Guardiola already has one eye on next season, with the head coach keen to integrate recent signing Erling Haaland into his squad.
Guardiola added: “It is especially important that he is arriving in a new country, new house, making new friends. All these kinds of things he has to adjust to.
“(But) I'm pretty sure he adapts well. If it takes weeks — great. If it takes months — great. He hasn't come here for two, three months, he's come for many years, I hope.”Guardiola: Title win will put Manchester City on a par with Ferguson’s United - The Athletic View Story
