Fabian Delph will miss Everton's crucial game against Brentford on Sunday with a new injury.
The midfielder, who has been plagued with muscle problems during his Goodison tenure, has played in five of the club's last six games and helped Frank Lampard's side climb out of the bottom three.
His experience proved influential during important wins over Chelsea and Leicester, but the former Manchester City man suffered his latest set-back during the draw at Watford on Wednesday.
Lampard said he will have to assess whether the 32-year-old will be available for the following two games after Sunday. Lampard said: “Fabian won’t be fit for the game against Brentford, we’ll see for the rest of the season. It’s a small injury, a muscle injury, but it’s an injury and enough to keep him out of this game."
The Everton manager added: “Ben Godfrey is very close, whether he’ll be fit for this squad or not but he’s possibly going to be in the squad. Donny van de Beek is getting closer, we’d like to think he might be involved on Sunday, if not on Thursday.”Everton: Delph to miss Brentford game with muscle injury - The Athletic View Story
