Everton have announced that Duncan Ferguson has been appointed caretaker manager for the club’s upcoming fixtures.
It is Ferguson’s second stint as the club’s interim boss.
The club said in a statement: “The Blues legend took charge of training at USM Finch Farm on Tuesday morning as the squad began its preparations for the visit of Aston Villa to Goodison Park on Saturday (12.30pm GMT).”
Ferguson will be supported by John Ebbrell and Leighton Baines, along with goalkeeping coach Alan Kelly.
The club have said an announcement on a new permanent manager will be made “in due course”.
Everton sacked manager Rafael Benitez on Sunday after just six-and-a-half months in charge following a dismal 2-1 defeat at Norwich.
