Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart garnered 99 first-place votes of a possible 100 to lead 2021-22 NBA All-Defensive First Team vote-getters, the league announced Friday. The selection is the Boston star's third of his career.

The Suns' Mikal Bridges got 95 first-place votes and the Jazz's Rudy Gobert nabbed 76. The selection marks Bridges' first to either All-Defensive team, while it is Gobert's sixth straight to the First Team. Gobert, along with the Nets' Ben Simmons, were unanimous selections last season.

Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Grizzlies' Jaren Jackson Jr., who is making his first appearance on either team, round out the All-Defensive First Team.

Bam Adebayo (Heat), Jrue Holiday (Bucks), Matisse Thybulle (76ers), Robert Williams II (Celtics) and Draymond Green (Warriors) — who leads this year's All-Defensive team with seven total selections — comprise the Second Team. Adebayo missed out on making the First Team by one point, drawing 152 to Jackson Jr.'s 153.
