Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball will undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair a small meniscus tear in his left knee, the team announced on Thursday. He is expected to return in 6-8 weeks.

Ball's fellow guard, Zach LaVine, is progressing with his left knee injury, sources tell The Athletic. There is hope that he will return in the near future — possibly as soon as Wednesday's game against the Toronto Raptors.

Ball has missed three straight games due to his knee injury. The 24-year-old received arthroscopic surgery on that same knee in 2018.

Ball joined the Bulls (28-15) on a four-year, $85 million contract in August after a sign-and-trade that sent Tomáš Satoranský, Garrett Temple and a second-round pick to the New Orleans Pelicans. He is averaging 13 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists for the season.

LaVine played 38 games thus far in the 2021-22 season, averaging 24.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
