Christian Yelich hit for the cycle Wednesday in Cincinnati – MLB's first cycle of 2022 – after the Brewers' veteran tripled in the ninth inning. It was Yelich's third career cycle and each of them have come against the Reds.

He is just the fifth player since 1900 to hit for the cycle three times – and the first to do it against the same team

Yelich, 30, hit an automatic double in the first inning, a home run in the third and a single in the fifth, each off Reds right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez. He flied out to center in the seventh, then tripled in the ninth off Joel Kuhnel to complete the feat.

It was MLB's first cycle since Eddie Rosario did it for the Braves on Sept. 19 last season.

Yelich finished the game 4-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored. He previously hit for two cycles in the span of three weeks in 2018, first in Cincinnati on Aug. 29, then again in Milwaukee on Sept. 17.

The Reds went on to win Wednesday's game, 14-11.
