Angels left-hander Reid Detmers threw a no-hitter in Tuesday's 12-0 win over the Rays. It marks the 12th no-hitter in team history.

Detmers got through the first five innings perfectly on just 49 pitches. That alone matched his longest outing of the year. He walked Taylor Walls to lead off the sixth inning on a floating curveball high in the zone.

In the next inning, Jared Walsh committed an error that had the crowd erupting in cheers for the official scorer moments later. Detmers remained unfazed. He received some help on a leaping catch from Anthony Rendon and a nifty double-play started by Walsh.

Detmers, in just his 11th career start, pitched the first Angels solo no-hitter in almost exactly a decade. The last came from Jered Weaver on May 2, 2012. Taylor Cole and Félix Peña combined for a no-hitter on July 12, 2019 — the first home game after Tyler Skaggs' death.

The jubilation of a night celebrating Shohei Ohtani’s MVP didn’t matter. It didn’t matter that the Rays threw out position player Brett Phillips to pitch the eighth. That turned into its own sideshow, with Rendon batting lefty and hitting a homer using Andrew Velazquez’s helmet.

Those were all just sideshows on a night that solely belonged to Detmers.
