Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon will undergo season-ending right wrist surgery, the team announced Friday. This is the second consecutive season-ending surgery for Rendon.
Rendon, 32, was put on the injured list on May 28 with right wrist inflammation. Through 162 at bats this season, Rendon is slashing .228/.324/.383 with five home runs and 24 RBIs.
In 155 games with the Angels, Rendon slashed .252/.359/.421 with 20 home runs and 89 RBIs. He has four years and $154 million left on his deal with the Angels.
The Angels are 30-35, currently third in the AL West. They begin a three-game series with the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.
