Angel City FC acquired forward Sydney Leroux in a trade with the Orlando Pride, Angel City announced Wednesday. In exchange, Orlando will receive ACFC's natural first-round draft pick in 2024 and $75,000 in allocation money.
Additionally, the Pride have the potential to get an additional $10,000 allocation money in 2022 and another $10,000 in 2023 if Leroux meets certain performance-based criteria.
"We are delighted to welcome Sydney Leroux to Angel City," team sporting director Eniola Aluko said in a statement. "Sydney has valuable experience as an NWSL player that will be a great asset to the team. Sydney's goal-scoring ability, her tenacity, and her passion on the field will be exciting for our fans to watch."
Leroux came to Orlando in 2018 via trade and previously played with the U.S. women's national team from 2011 to 2017. She has 35 international goals and 39 in eight NWSL seasons.
