Alabama is expected to hire Miami defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson to replace new Oklahoma assistant Jay Valai.
Alabama is expected to hire Miami defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson as a defensive assistant, sources told The Athletic. He was expected to inform Miami and its new coach Mario Cristobal on Wednesday night.
The position was vacated by former cornerbacks coach Jay Valai, who left for Oklahoma after the Crimson Tide's loss in the national championship game on Jan. 10. Nick Saban quickly identified his target, and then he went out and got his man.
The 40-year-old Robinson is from Miami and played at Auburn. He was South Carolina's defensive coordinator from 2016-20 and spent the 2021 season on the Hurricanes' staff. He's also coached at Auburn, Florida and Texas Tech. He'll now leave for Tuscaloosa rather than stay on at Miami under a new regime.Alabama expected to hire Miami assistant Travaris Robinson as cornerbacks coach: Sources - The Athletic View Story
