Adam Hadwin is the solo leader after the first round of the 2022 U.S. Open. The Canadian shot a 4-under 66.

Hadwin, 34, has only one win on the PGA Tour, that being the 2017 Valspar Championship. His best finish at the U.S. Open is T-39 in 2011.

Rory McIlroy is one of five golfers at 3-under par. The 2011 U.S. Open champion shot an opening round 67. Past U.S. Open champions Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose sit at 2-under, while major winners Collin Morikawa, Gary Woodland, Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm are three off the lead at 1-under.

Phil Mickelson, who played last week in the inaugural LIV Golf event in London, recorded an 8-over 78 in his first round. He sits 12 shots off the lead.

The U.S. Open second round starts at 6:45 a.m. ET Friday.
